Arne Slot was Milos Kerkez admission as Liverpool plan for Bournemouth full-back explained
Arne Slot has confirmed that he adjusted his game-plan to counteract the threat of Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez in Liverpool's 2-0 win but was coy when asked about transfer interest in the left-back.
Mohamed Salah scored two goals for the Reds to take them nine points clear of Arsenal ahead of the Gunners' visit from Manchester City on Sunday and Slot explained how he changed the position of Ryan Gravenberch to help his team cope with the attacking threat of Hungary international Kerkez.
The Cherries defender has been linked with a summer switch to Anfield having been signed by current sporting director Richard Hughes, during his time at the Vitality Stadium, in 2023 and while Slot talked up the ability of the 21-year-old and how he tried to nullify it, the head coach stopped short of detailing summer transfer plans.

"Not many things we do are by coincidence and I think it is clear that this team (Bournemouth) have many good things but their left full-back is definitely a threat going forward," Slot said.
"And Mo Salah is an incredible player but his main strength is not following the opposite full-back. Some people are laughing over here I don't know why but that is not the only thing, we want to keep Mo as forward as possible because it is a risk for every team that plays us if the left full-back goes [forward].
"I think maybe in a home game recently, Ipswich Town, Mo scored when the left full-back went forward and Mo was free in transition and it was a goal. But yeah, it's clear if you leave Trent (Alexander-Arnold) with Antoine Semenyo and Kerkez alone in the two-v-one that is not the best idea that I can come up with.
"I don't think I have to talk about players that we are interested in, let alone a player from Bournemouth. [Kerkez] is over here, he is having a great season as many, many other players are having here as well.
"And that shows you how good of a manager you have over here and what a great sporting director you had (Richard Hughes) over here and maybe still have now, I don't know who it is.
"But he (Hughes) brought in many good players and the manager works with every player to bring them in an incredible way, including the one you just mentioned but I am not talking about an individual, they are all bringing the best out of their game at the moment."
