Arne Slot names new Liverpool attacking option as January transfer not ruled out
Liverpool boss Arne Slot says his forward line now has four options in the number nine role with Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez having been joined by another striker after his return from injury.
Slot was asked about Jayden Danns during his press conference ahead of Brentford, with the Reds manager suggesting a decision is yet to be made on whether or not the 18-year-old, who scored against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup, might head out on loan. Stoke City is said to be among his suitors in the EFL.
"I think you take a lot of things into account when you want to loan someone," Slot said. "Is it good for the player? Yes or no. Do we still need him?

"We have two or three for the No.9 position and we don't expect Jota to be out long. Hopefully we see him on the pitch soon, Jayden has done well when he has come in, so we have four options and we need to make the right decisions."
Even with Nunez suspended midweek at Nottingham Forest, Danns didn't make the bench, instead featuring and scoring for the Reds' U21s the following night. Aside from in the FA Cup, it is hard to see him getting that many chances.
"There weren't many times our subs needed to effect the game with a goal," Slot continued when he was asked about squad depth. "One of things I would like us to do better is to make a late winner. A few games, United, Fulham, Forest, where we created chance after chance.
"We created three big chances against Forest and these big games, all other games after 75 minutes, we were leading so didn't need to score from the bench. But the three or four games we weren't, we created chances but were unable to score. It's a small sample size to judge from. Hopefully we don't need it a lot but if we are then maybe we do score late in the game when we deserve it."
Liverpool.com says: Danns is an excellent talent but the next step for him should be to play regular senior football. He isn't going to get that at Liverpool so he should probably find a loan. There will no doubt be plenty of interest.
