Slot's Klopp praise

Arne Slot has praised Jurgen Klopp for making his transition as Liverpool boss a smooth one. The German urged the Anfield crowd to chant Slot's name when he bid farewell last season.

"That has a lot to do with having the quality players we have," he told TNT Sports when asked about Liverpool's impressive season. "There’s no manager in the world that can be successful without having quality players, unless you’re facing teams that don’t have quality players; in the Premier League, everybody has quality players; you need to have a quality squad."

On the part of his predecessor, Klopp played in the smooth transition; he added: "I think it helped me as well the way Jurgen said farewell. He immediately set me off to a good start with what he did for me in the stadium.

"And then the most important thing is winning games, because no matter how you look, or no matter how nice you are, if you are nice or if you are good-looking – which is a question mark for me!

"But, then it all depends on your results. If you don’t win, it’s very hard to be popular with the fans, so that’s why the triangle [of fans, players and manager] is really good at the moment.

"We’ve experienced this at Anfield against [Manchester] City and [Real] Madrid especially."

Davies transfer claim

Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, it is claimed. Football Insider claim the Reds are in the race to sign the Canadian left-back this summer.

The report adds that despite it being likely there will be a hefty signing-on fee for Davies, on top of his high wage demands, Liverpool are said to not be put off by those hurdles. The 24-year-old is into the final year of his Bayern contract and is yet to sign a new deal with Manchester United also linked.
