Arne Slot was full of praise for Curtis Jones’ all-action display in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Jones was named man of the match after scoring the winner and shackling Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

And Liverpool boss Slot was happy with the midfielder after his goal kept them top of the Premier League.

“Very good,” he told Sky Sports when asked about Jones’ performance. “Very good. Very good individual performance.

“I think the whole team worked very, very hard. Curtis had a difficult job. He had to control Cole Palmer, which is not easy because this player has some quality. It’s a team effort, but Curtis was mostly responsible for this.”

Jones was happy he managed to keep Palmer quiet at Anfield, saying: "We know how important he is and how many goals he scores, so I had it in my mind to keep him quiet and it is a huge part of their game gone.

And former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge added to the praise for Jones, saying: "I played with Curtis Jones and he has always had the ability.

"You can see he has grown up a lot and he kept Cole Palmer quiet today. Playing on that side of the pitch he has come with a goal and performed top-class."
