Arne Slot reveals new Liverpool injury worry as crucial player could miss Brentford
Liverpool boss Arne Slot says Diogo Jota has an injury concern heading into the weekend's clash with Brentford. The Portugal striker felt something during his cameo off the bench at Nottingham Forest.
"We have to see today — it is not sure that he will be available," Slot said during his press conference. "He felt a little niggle (midweek). There is no doubt about Jota's importance for us but he wasn't training. He finished the game but complained a bit about it. We'll see for tomorrow."
Jota and Luis Diaz trained alone on Thursday but it remains to be seen if the Liverpool duo will be fit for the trip to the G-tech Community Stadium this Saturday. Slot said he "assumes" Diaz will train today and he was only on his own earlier in the week because he had a sore throat.

"Diaz has done well as a nine and even before the winter break, it was a very good performance," Slot said. "Afterward, Diaz played there three more games — United, Spurs, Forest. We have created chances as a team and that's important. I am happy if we play Diaz if we play him as a 9 or 11."
Ibrahima Konate's fitness is being managed at the moment but the Frenchman is continuing to build up his sharpness. He played 66 minutes against Nottingham Forest midweek before being replaced by Jota.
Joe Gomez is the only Liverpool played sidelined at the moment with the center-back having picked up a hamstring injury at West Ham at the back end of 2024. Darwin Nunez, who was suspended midweek, is now back available again but is likelier to start against Lille in the Champions League.
