Arne Slot reveals Liverpool January transfer plans amid contract uncertainty over trio
Arne Slot has said he does not expect Liverpool to make any signings during the January transfer window.
The Dutchman opted against adding any major arrivals to the squad left by Jurgen Klopp over the summer - until an 11th-hour move to bring Federico Chiesa in from Juventus. The Italian has started just one game since then and has had little impact, so Slot is very much still working with the same group he inherited.
That seems likely to be the case until the end of the season, the Liverpool boss revealed in the wake of Sunday’s 5-0 win over West Ham United.

“There’s nothing in the media yet about who we’re going to bring in? No? And also not in my mind," he said. "I’m very happy with the squad we have, I said this six months ago and everybody was like 'is this guy crazy?’ But I think the players show the confidence the club and me had in them was all deserved.
Slot’s decision has been justified, with Sunday’s victory at the London Stadium moving Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand. The one downside, however, was Joe Gomez being replaced with a first-half injury.
Slot said after the game that it is ‘going take a while before he is back’ and with Ibrahima Konate also injured, it means Jarell Quansah will suddenly be thrust into the spotlight.
“If you look at Jarell Quansah, he hadn’t played a lot until now, a few appearances,” said Slot. "The way he played today shows how important it is that we keep working with these players, because we’re going to need all of them at a certain moment."
With no incomings expected, January could be dominated by exits. The futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will dominate the agenda given the trio are free to negotiate with foreign clubs from the turn of the year.
"I think I have a lot of control over what they do if they’re on the training pitch, if there in a meeting with me," said Slot. "But talking about their private lives, I don’t have control,” explained Slot.
"That’s been the situation as a long as I’ve been a manager but I have control to an extent [in terms of] what I expect from them on the pitch. It’s really pleasing to see what Virgil brings, what Trent brings and what Mo brings."
