Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as uncertainty swirls around the Georgia superstar and his future in Italy.

According to a report, the Reds - who have been monitoring his situation - could make a push to sign the 23-year-old amid speculation over his future at the Serie A leaders. French club Paris Saint-Germain are said to be open to negotiations with the Georgia international as he heads into the final two years of his contract in Naples. Liverpool Echo readers have now been giving their opinions in our comments section.

Reports claim that, while Liverpool aren't monitoring a wide player like Kvaratskhelia, they are keeping tabs on a player they admire and could pounce should the opportunity arise. Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, too.

The prolific Swedish striker is in one of his best periods for goal-scoring after firing the Magpies back into European qualification contention and a two-goal cushion in their Carabao Cup semi-final. Arsenal have been hot favourites to land the ex-Real Sociedad talisman, however reports suggest that they may not be able to afford the Newcastle frontman due to his likely-to-be hefty transfer fee.

In other news, it's been reported that Manchester City are advancing their efforts to sign Omar Marmoush - who has previously been linked with Liverpool, too. Earlier this week, speculation suggested that Pep Guardiola's team could target the Egypt international for a transfer fee around £50million.

In a more recent development, reports indicate an agreement has been reached between the two parties. If these rumours hold any truth, City will now have to convince Eintracht Frankfurt to let their leading scorer to depart mid-season while they're still competing at the top of the Bundesliga.

Commenter Eaglehu12 says: "How Jones gets in the side ahead of Elliott is baffling, Elliott has better technique, is faster and would create more going forward."

Samsongforyou replies: "Elliott has just returned from a long-term injury, so it's no wonder that he's not had many minutes. It appears Slot wants to win the League Cup hence the line-up in midweek, as it would have been perfect to give Chiesa and Elliott both at least 30 minutes each. It's too bad really, because we need players to be able to step into the team around this point, which is when form can often take a dip. Jones is still a good squad player for us, but he's too ponderous on the ball to be in the starting XI."

Klopps Disciple adds: "Unlike Jurgen Klopp, Slot likes to play possession football sometimes, and in a long season this makes sense, Curtis Jones is very suited to that, as he can slow down the play and keep possession, I think this is the role Slot wants Jones to play."

Doyoun points out: "There's slowing everything down too much to allow the opposition to regroup, though."

Joby thinks: "Come on, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for £70million? We haven't spent a lot in three transfer windows to strengthen the squad!"

Scratchthesurface replies: "Apart from £30m, £12m, £70m, £42m, £40m and £20m. So that's £214m over the last three windows - not counting this current, ongoing one. That would be last summer, last winter and the summer before. Those signings were; Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Wataru Endo, Federico Chiesa and the new goalkeeper yet to arrive. While also adding Quansah and Bradley from the youth team set-up."

Ramon23 adds: "TBF, Bradley and Quansah were already there. The problem we have had recently is more players have left than have come in. We were in a strong position last season until we ran out of steam - as players had to constantly play without rest in an already hectic schedule."

Wudwudley thinks: "If we keep a full squad fit we're good, but we know we'll get injuries and now is the time to strengthen the squad at CB and LB."
