Arne Slot will officially take up his role as Liverpool's new head coach this summer.

Speculation first emerged last month linking Slot with the vacancy at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp will leave his role as Liverpool manager in the coming days and took charge of his final match in the 2-0 win over Wolves on Sunday in the Premier League.

Slot was identified as the ideal candidate to be Klopp's successor in the Anfield dugout by Fenway Sports Group. On Monday, the Reds confirmed that Slot had signed a three-year contract to be Liverpool's new head coach.

After spending three years in charge of Eredivisie club Feyenoord, Slot will now be making the switch to the Premier League to become Liverpool's new head coach. The title of 'head coach' follows a change in the structure of the club behind the scenes, which has been led by FSG's CEO of football Michael Edwards and new Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes.

What is Arne Slot's start date as Liverpool head coach?

Liverpool have confirmed that Slot will officially take on his role as the club's new head coach on Saturday, June 1. This will also be the day that the Klopp era at Anfield officially comes to an end, ahead of what is expected to be a summer of change on Merseyside.

The club also stated that the appointment of Slot as head coach will be officially confirmed upon the completion of a work permit. It's also yet to be confirmed who will join Slot as part of his backroom team.

Sipke Hulshoff has worked as Slot's assistant at Feyenoord and is expected to follow the 45-year-old to Anfield this summer. Hulshoff also recently worked as part of Ronald Koeman's backroom staff with the Netherlands national team until he resigned from the role last week ahead of this summer's European Championships.
