Omar Marmoush is the hot new name on everyone's lips in Germany. The 25-year-old striker is attracting interest from the Premier League, with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal both reportedly holding an interest in the Egyptian frontman.

It's easy to see why there is interest in the striker. Marmoush has 18 goals and 12 assists in 24 games for Eintracht Frankfurt. He is the stat leader in the Bundesliga when it comes to goal involvement.

In 2023/24 he had a reasonably good campaign, plundering 12 goals and providing six assists in 29 matches. This season, though, has been extraordinary, suggesting he has found his feet in Germany's top flight.

But is he the solution to Arsenal's problems up front? Or is it a tale of two strikers in the German Bundesliga that act as a warning to the Gunners when it comes to splashing the cash?

This time last year, everyone was talking about Serhou Guirassy. The striker was outscoring Harry Kane in the Bundesliga - although Kane would go on to win the Golden Boot in the end - and he was tipped with a move to the Premier League.

Guirassy's goals helped Stuttgart finish second in the table - above Bayern Munich - and qualify for the Champions League for only the sixth time in their history. Guirassy ended the season with 28 goals and two assists and earned a £15million move to Borussia Dortmund come the end of the campaign.

It was the Guinea striker's first really prolific spell of his career. And while he did not make the move to the Premier League in the end, he, like Marmoush now, was heavily linked with a move.

Things have not gone quite to plan for Guirassy at Dortmund though. He has six goals and two assists in 12 appearances, equating to a goal every other game, which is not too shabby, but he is nowhere near as prolific.

Marmoush is enjoying his best-ever season in front of goal, but, given the hype around Guirassy last season and his current form, perhaps it is too early to be looking at the Egyptian as the player to solve Arsenal's issues.

With a £42million price tag on his head, the Gunners may well think to look elsewhere, or at least see if Marmoush can back it up with a second solid campaign, before making a move. Of course the price will then go up, with back-to-back strong goalscoring seasons behind him, but it would be safer than taking a risk on someone who may be a one-season wonder.
