Arsenal's lack of business in the January transfer window has left many fans crying out to the ownership to sign a striker, but rumours are coming in that instead of singing a number nine they're in the chase to sturdy up their back-line.

After it was revealed Gabriel Jesus would be sidelined for the rest of the season due to a brutal ACL injury, The Gunners were linked with a whole host of strikers to source a replacement. With a bid rejected for Ollie Watkins, Mathys Tel choosing Spurs and Benjamin Cesko choosing to stay in Germany, The Gunners efforts to source a forward may have been put on hold.

According to Spanish football magazine Fichajes, Arsenal are battling against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United to sign England international Marc Guehi. The 24-year-old has been a staple of Crystal Palace's defence since 2021 after making the move from Chelsea.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs had a £70 million bid for the Englishmen rejected on deadline day with the north London club losing interest. However, that hasn't put off four of the other members of the big six. Palace is notoriously defensive of the player with the club rejecting four bids from Newcastle in the summer.

His ability to dominate strikers and win crucial duels has understandably brought some of England's biggest clubs knocking on the door of Selhurst Park. Arteta would look to bring Guehi in to add more depth and remain competitive across competitions after the busy schedule pays its toll on the players. Guehi would also provide strong competition for Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães.

Although the Gunners face stiff competition if they wish to sign the defender with Liverpool eyeing Guehi up as a potential successor to Virgil van Dijk who is yet to sign a new contract at the club. Guehi's contract ties him to The Eagles until 2026 which could also cause Palace to hike his price if the big six start bidding for him in the summer.
