Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur could have the chance to sign Evan Ferguson before the January transfer window slams shut. The 20-year-old striker faces an uncertain future at Brighton, having struggled to force himself into Fabian Hurzeler's side.

Ferguson, who sees his contract at the Amex Stadium expire in June 2029, has featured 12 times in the Premier League this season, missing a large chunk of the campaign due to injury. However, even when the Ireland international has been available for selection, he's rarely been given the chance to impress.

In fact, Ferguson has started just twice in the English top flight, averaging only 18 minutes an appearance. The Irishman has been sidelined with an ankle problem since the end of last month but, as he nears a return, clubs have reportedly started queuing to secure his signature.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ferguson is expected to leave Brighton on loan before the January transfer window slams shut on February 3. The report states that the striker has attracted interest from 'several clubs' across Europe.

In fact, it's said that teams from the Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 have all made contact with the Seagulls over a potential move for Ferguson. Speaking to reporters ahead of Brighton's 1-0 defeat to Everton at the weekend, Hurzeler provided an update on Ferguson's future.

The Seagulls boss said: "It's always a decision we make together,” said Hurzeler on Ferguson’s future. “So, we want to hear his opinion, his thoughts. We want to hear also his needs, his wishes and then it is also the club's side. Then it is about making the right decision together. Honestly, I don't know yet."

Ferguson was once one of the most coveted young players in the Premier League after he burst onto the scene at the Amex Stadium. Last season, he became the sixth-youngest player to ever score an English top-flight hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Newcastle.

The Irishman was suddenly linked with moves to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and United, but then he went five games without a goal and interest appeared to fizzle out. Despite this, Ferguson earned comparisons to Harry Kane.

After scoring against Luton on the opening weekend of the 2023/24 season, Gary Lineker urged Tottenham to sign the 'born goalscorer'. On X, formerly known as Twitter, he said: "Evan Ferguson scores in Fergie time.

"He’s a born goalscorer. If I was in charge of recruitment at Spurs I’d take a punt on him as Kane’s replacement. Apologies to Brighton fans."

Ferguson has previously said that he's taken inspiration from Kane. Speaking to talkSPORT in November 2023, he said: "Harry Kane, I looked at him quite a bit. I like [Robert] Lewandowski.

"I like watching [Zlatan] Ibrahimovich. Just some of the things that he'd do, some of the little flicks and the types of finishes that he could produce."
