Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur will be on alert after Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany and sporting director Max Eberl provided an update on Mathys Tel's future on Friday.

In what is set up to be the major saga in the closing days of the transfer window, Bayern striker Tel put numerous Premier League clubs on alert when confirming his intention to leave Germany this week.

Arsenal are in desperate need of a No.9, Chelsea who desire another new attacker and Spurs - somewhat in-between - have emerged alongside Manchester United in a battle amongst Premier League rivals.

Now all have learned Bayern's latest standing on the 19-year-old with a match to play against Holstein Kiel tomorrow ahead of the January transfer window's closure on Monday night.

"The most important thing is that Mathys is still a Bayern player. Every player is fully available until the last moment. My role is as always: to use the players who are available," Kompany first responded to a question of the attacker's possible exit at his Bayern press conference.

Sitting alongside, sporting director Eberl added: "Mathys is still a Bayern player. Accordingly, if he's there tomorrow, he will hopefully be looking to score goals. That remains the case at the moment. There's no new situation."

As reported earlier this month, Chelsea have a long-standing interest in the Frenchman and had an approach rebuffed last summer.

The Blues had been chasing Man United winger Alejandro Garnacho, though are now set to turn their attentions towards Tel - who is also able to play on the left flank - now that he is known to be available with contacts made, football.london understands.

Spurs are rumoured to have held talks with Bayern and the player's representatives directly to present their own project, though Ange Postecoglou remained coy about the subject on Thursday night.

"I can't tell you anything about Tel. I've been focusing on getting the team prepared tonight. Other people are working in the background. As I've said all along, I'm allowing them to get on with it and when, and if, there's any news I'm sure I'll find out," he said.

Arsenal have been linked with singing the striker too now that he is on the market and Mikel Arteta seeks firepower to add to his injury-hit attacking line.

Rivals Man United are then said to be in the picture, though the most likely option for them would have to be be a loan-to-buy deal according to reports elsewhere.
