Arsenal have been dealt another major injury blow in attack with Kai Havertz set to miss the rest of the season. The German international tore his hamstring during the club's team training camp in Dubai.

The Athletic report that while it's unclear whether Havertz is going to require surgery, he is not expected to feature again this term and his focus is on getting fit and available for next season. The 25-year-old has scored 15 times and added six assists in 34 appearances for Arsenal in 2024/25 and will be a massive miss.

Havertz is the latest first-team attacker to get injured. First, Bukayo Saka suffered a serious hamstring issue against Crystal Palace in December and was forced to undergo surgery. The 22-year-old England forward has not featured since and is not anticipated to be back until March at the earliest.

Gabriel Jesus then injured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) against Manchester United last month, and he has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Gabriel Martinelli added further concern after he limped off at Newcastle United on February 5 and is set to be out for around four to six weeks.

With Havertz, Saka, Jesus and Martinelli all out for the foreseeable future, Arteta has a selection dilemma - or lack of one - on his hands. It's clear that right now the Gunners are lacking senior forward options available.

Saturday's trip to Leicester City is the first test to see how Arsenal cope without those four attackers, and it does feel like Arteta might have to rely on the three who are fit - at least until Saka and Martinelli are back. Those are: Ethan Nwaneri, Raheem Sterling and Leandro Trossard.

Nwaneri, 17, has enjoyed a fine breakthrough season in the Gunners first-team but hasn't had a consistent run in the XI yet. The teenager, who is 18 next month, has seven goals in 23 appearances this season and is expected to be used on the right-hand side to cover Arsenal's injury woes.

Trossard, 30, has not his most successful season but can still chip in with a goal contribution every now and again. The Belgium international has scored five times and added six assists in 36 matches across all competitions this term and is set to play down the middle for Arteta against Leicester.

Sterling, 30, is another experienced operator but has not settled since his loan move from Chelsea in August. He has just one goal and two assists in 18 games for the Gunners. But with Arsenal's front-line riddled with injuries, Sterling could now be handed a real chance to show his abilities.

While a front-three of Nwaneri, Trossard and Sterling is the obvious-looking attacking trio, there are alternatives that Arteta could consider.

One of them is using Martin Odegaard as part of the forward line and putting Mikel Merino in midfield, while Oleksandr Zinchenko could be pushed up.
