How Arsenal could line up with Dani Olmo as fresh Barcelona transfer details emerge
The January transfer window is just a matter of days away, with Arsenal being linked with several players.
One of those is Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo. The Gunners were one of the clubs linked with an interest in the Spaniard in the summer before he joined the Catalan giants. He could, however, be available again in January.
In the summer, Barcelona were given dispensation to register Olmo on a temporary basis until the end of the year. That could have been extended until the end of the season had the club shown steps to improve their financial position.

However, it has been ruled by La Liga that they have not done so, which blocks them from registering the player for the second half of the season. An appeal has now been thrown out by the Barcelona Commercial Court.
It means that Olmo could potentially be available, with a loan deal mentioned by The Boot Room. Arsenal are one of the teams said to be being kept informed of the situation by the player’s agent.
Olmo is said to be keen on staying with Barcelona but could go on loan in January, if he is blocked from playing for the club. It is something that the player is reported to be open to.
So how would Olmo fit into the Arsenal line-up should he complete a temporary move to the Emirates Stadium? Most likely, he would come in on the left of the midfield three, lining up alongside Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.
In recent games, it’s the decision taken up by Kai Havertz with Gabriel Jesus playing up front. However, the arrival of Olmo will give Mikel Arteta a choice to make, with Havertz either dropping to the bench, or taking the place of Jesus up top with the latter then dropping to the bench.
Despite Jesus’ five goals in the last three games, Havertz may just get the shout. The German's consistency could see him get in ahead of the more natural striker.
