'When Arsenal don't give him a chance' - Wonderkid told he is welcome to complete transfer

Arsenal have seen 16-year-old Chido Obi-Martin become one of the most talked about players at the club in recent weeks. The youngster has been playing for Jack Wilshere's Arsenal Under-18s and become a leading goalscorer, breaking records and making headlines.

In his last seven Under-18s Premier League games he has scored in every single fixture. This on its own is impressive; however, the reality is that in those seven games, he has scored a total of 24 goals.

In the most recent clash, when Arsenal took on Norwich City and won 9-0 away from home, Obi-Martin scored the first seven goals himself. His range of finishing is broad, scoring with either foot, from range and with some wonderful technical skill too.

Fans are already calling for him to be part of the first-team squad, however, some doubt whether he’ll get the chance. Mikel Arteta has been somewhat reluctant to play his youth stars with only Ethan Nwaneri getting a standout opportunity away at West Ham United in a 6-0 victory.

With that in mind, Obi-Martin’s former club FC Copenhagen are certainly keeping tabs on the Danish striker. Speaking to Tipsbladet, the director of development at the club Sune Smith-Nielsen has offered the chance of senior football should the opportunity not materialise in North London.

"Yes, he played with us until he was 13 years old, when the family then moved to London. I think it was the mother who got a job in London, and then the father and brothers moved with her," Smith-Nielsen said.

"He was a huge talent. He has been a huge talent since he was six years old. At times, he played with age groups two years older, and he has always had tremendous offensive potential. He has wild technique and fantastic physical attributes.

"We are very excited that he is doing so well over at Arsenal. Then he can always come to FC Copenhagen’s first team when Arsenal doesn't give him the chance."

Arsenal will not want to lose the star and will be looking to sign him to a professional contract when he turns 17, just like they have with Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly. Obi-Martin has reportedly joined the same agency as Bukayo Saka who helped negotiate new deals for the aforementioned Gunners star and the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Folarin Balogun.

The future looks bright for Obi-Martin and the interest in him will only grow. It is on Arsenal to prove why the pathway to senior stardom lies with them and not anyone else - despite what some might be suggesting.
