Arsenal given Bryan Mbeumo January transfer message after Mikel Arteta's injury crisis worsens
Even just days into the January transfer window, all roads lead in one direction with Arsenal's firepower diminishing as the season wears on.
The Gunners were unable to muster a winner against Brighton this weekend, whether that had been a second goal before Joao Pedro's penalty or a response before full-time. It was made all the more painful when Liverpool dropped points from the top of the Premier League.
With Bukayo Saka already out injured for the foreseeable, Mikel Arteta was already scrambling for a reliable attacker and a new injury has certainly not done him any favours.

So, with that in mind, football.london has taken a look at the latest news around Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Ethan Nwaneri injury confirmed
Speaking at his pre-Newcastle United press conference, Arteta confirmed a new injury for 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.
After netting a fine goal against Brighton he was substituted in the 46th minute for Gabriel Martinelli.
"Unfortunately, he has picked up an injury and is going to be out for a few weeks," Arteta said, clarifying: "Muscular injury."
"Yeah, he didn't really know. 'I am feeling something, what is it?' He has earned the right to step up and play for us and start some big games and impact those games in the way he has done. Gutted for him."
football.london says: Echoing Arteta, this is unfortunate. Arsenal shouldn't be at the stage of relying on Nwaneri to start - let alone score goals - but he was an exciting addition to the squad as a different option across competitions. Hoping for a speedy recovery as he could greatly aid the push towards silverware.
Bryan Mbeumo transfer reality
According to Fabrizio Romano via GIVEMESPORT, if the Gunners were looking towards Brentford for highly capable cover at right-wing then they must go back to the drawing board.
He says the Bees have no intention of parting ways with Bryan Mbeumo this month.
At 25 years of age - so still yet to hit the so-called prime years of a footballer - the Cameroonian has grown in stature since his team's promotion to the English top-flight. He currently sits with 13 goals and three assists in 20 appearances this term.
The same can be said for Wolves' in-form Matheus Cunha, with only a 'crazy proposal' enough for either club to reconsider their current stance.
football.london says: Arsenal have already been linked with Cunha and on current form that is understandable, but if they want an impact signing Mbeumo is the man to go for. He's simply sensational. It would be very Leandro Trossard-esque as a January deal, however the key difference is that Mbeumo doesn't seem to be pushing for a move at this time.
