Arsenal's lack of forward options available is a real concern. Mikel Arteta is set to be without at least four first-team attackers for the foreseeable future, including Saturday's trip to Leicester City.

Bukayo Saka is out until March after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury, Gabriel Jesus is set to miss the remainder of the season with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear and Gabriel Martinelli is not available for a month with a hamstring issue. Now, Kai Havertz has added to Arsenal's woes after he tore his hamstring during the team's training camp in Dubai, with the German set to miss the rest of the campaign.

It means that Ethan Nwaneri, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling are set to start in a front three for the first time against Leicester, barring any other further issues. On the bench, meanwhile, Arteta might be scratching his head for senior attacking reinforcements, though several several academy stars could be included.

Arsenal's injury crisis has also led to some people look at the Gunners' decision to sell Eddie Nketiah last summer to Crystal Palace and Folarin Balogun to Monaco in August 2023. In this situation right now, both Nketiah and Balogun would be perfect for the Gunners and could offer something different in attack.

Nketiah, 25, left Arsenal to join Palace for £25million plus £5m in add-ons. The one-capped England international has struggled since his move to Selhurst Park, however, having scored just twice in 21 appearances.

Balogun, 23, meanwhile, has not performed much better following his £25m plus add-ons switch to Monaco. He has 11 goals in 42 matches for the Ligue 1 side, although he has featured only 10 times this season.

Despite this, Arsenal made the right decision to sell both regardless of their damning injury situation. Their sales counted as pure profit on the accounts sheet due to both players coming through the club's academy and Arsenal were subsequently able to invest that in their squad.

Although Arteta's side haven't spent that on a striker - which they should have done - Riccardo Calafiori, David Raya and Mikel Merino have been signed. The Gunners are still going to be left with some leeway in terms of their Financial Fair Play position to strengthen up front this summer, too.

Alongside that, both Nketiah and Balogun's market values have dropped since their moves and the Gunners would not be able to get a combined £50m plus add-ons for them now. Arsenal worked wonders to receive that sum for players who hadn't even set the Premier League alight with Arteta's side.

Yes, Nketiah and Balogun would be useful in the Arsenal squad right now, but in the long-term it's still the right decision and the Gunners should not have any regrets about selling them. No-one could have predicted an injury crisis like this, and Arsenal's lack of scoring power fit and available.
