Arsenal may have been given fresh hope in the race to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for a new striker as the January transfer window continues to roll on. Vlahovic has previously been tipped to sign for Arsenal, with the rumours starting during his time at Fiorentina before he signed for Juventus in 2022.

Vlahovic has scored 12 goals for Juve this season, but will now face fierce competition to get into the starting line-up. The Serie A giants recently signed Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, with manager Thiago Motta already signalling his intent with the two strikers at the weekend.

Saturday night saw Juventus face Napoli in Serie A, with Motta naming Kolo Muani in the starting line-up and leaving Vlahovic on the bench. Kolo Muani opened the scoring, but it was not enough to prevent Juve from falling to a 2-1 defeat in Naples.

Vlahovic has been tipped to sign for Arsenal in previous transfer windows, and the recent decision by Motta to bench the striker in favour of Kolo Muani could fuel speculation that a move away from Turin may be on the cards. Motta explained before kick-off against Napoli why he decided to leave Vlahovic on the bench.

“Vlahovic reacted very well, he is a very positive leader in this squad,” Motta told DAZN.

“He is coming back from a small injury, he helped the team a great deal and knows he can be a very important choice off the bench to give us different characteristics in the second half to maintain or even raise the level over the 95 minutes.”

Vlahovic is not the only striker to be linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks. The Juventus star joins Victor Osimhen, Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, and Viktor Gyokeres, who are also credited as potential targets for the Gunners.
