Joe Cole believes Harry Kane would be the perfect signing for Arsenal - but said it would be difficult to see the forward crossing the North London divide.

Earlier this month, German publication BILD revealed that the 31-year-old has a release clause in his Bayern Munich contract that would allow him to leave the club for £54m in January 2026.

It was also reported that Kane would have been free to leave the Bundesliga giants for just £67m last month, 18 months after he joined the club in a £100m deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

As a result, Kane has been tentatively linked with a move to Arsenal - the club he played for as a junior before joining Spurs - with the Gunners in desperate need of a No.9.

Several high-profile players have played for both Arsenal and Tottenham in recent years, most memorably Sol Campbell, though Cole believes it is something Kane won't do.

“I can see the logic with Harry Kane joining Arsenal – stranger things have happened," Cole said while speaking to Paddy Power. "He’s gone to Germany, and he’s carried on where he left off. The man just oozes goals.

"For Arsenal, as a footballer, he would be the perfect last piece in the jigsaw – he suits them down to the ground.

Three-time Premier League winner Cole added: “I can’t see it, however. There’s such a wrench between the two clubs. I think it would be too much for Harry.

"Sol Campbell joining Arsenal from Spurs was a bit different to this, but from a football perspective, it makes a lot of sense, because he is perfect for their style of football."

Kane has scored 72 goals in 73 games since joining Bayern Munich in 2023.
