Arsenal handed huge Dani Olmo January transfer update as £83m deal agreed
The chaotic transfer saga surrounding Dani Olmo has seemingly taken another twist with Barcelona agreeing a lucrative deal that may finally allow him to be registered. The summer signing from RB Leipzig faced registration issues upon returning to his boyhood club before they were ironed out three weeks into the 2024/25 season.
The Catalan giants were able to agree a temporary solution until the end of December with La Liga following the long-term injury suffered by Andreas Christensen which allows up to 80 per cent of a players salary to be used on an alternative.
With that deadline fast approaching, Barcelona attempted to register him for the remainder of the campaign but failed with their appeal. Reports in Spain claim that if Olmo remains unregistered by January 1, he is able to depart Barcelona on a free transfer just six months on from making a £45.6million move.

Understandably, such an opportunity peaked the interest of Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City. All three Premier League clubs would benefit from some attacking reinforcement in January with injuries and consistency problems on full show.
The Gunners have just lost Bukayo Saka for several months with a hamstring issue while Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden are struggling to hit levels shown in recent years. Ruben Amorim meanwhile, could do with more options in his frontline especially with the expected departure of Marcus Rashford.
However, it appears as though Olmo will stay in Spain with Barcelona closing a €100m (£82.9m) deal to sell VIP boxes at the Camp Nou to investors from the Middle East, as per Marca.
It has also been claimed that president Joan Laporta exercised the sale option with the belief a first payment will come before December 31 and thus allow them the finances to register Olmo. Barcelona were hopeful a bumper seven-year deal with Nike would take them over the financial threshold but it was calculated to not be the case.
If the significant payment lands prior to the New Year's Eve deadline, the attacking midfielder looks set to remain a Barcelona player for the foreseeable.
