Arsenal 'identify' Thomas Partey replacement as Mikel Arteta gets £77m January transfer chance
With the January transfer window to open soon, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta will certainly be on alert to take advantage of any possible opportunities. The Gunners did not make one new signing 12 months ago and that will likely be the case again in 2025 unless something changes.
Arteta has already issued a clear verdict on the winter window with his comments certainly making it sound as though Arsenal won't be too active. "I never expect January to be super busy but we have to wait and see where we are," he said. "Some surprises can come. We are prepared for that. Some opportunities too. We have to see.
"Hopefully the availability of the squad will be better in a few weeks. We have to wait and see." With that being said, the chance to sign a striker in January may have emerged alongside a major Thomas Partey update that could come into play next month.

With that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours with the start of January under two weeks away.
Partey update and replacement found
Football Transfers claim that Arsenal are yet to offer Partey a new contract and have already identified a potential replacement. The Ghana international sees his current deal expire next summer and there is currently no major talk of an extension.
As such, clubs abroad can attempt to agree a pre-contract from January with Partey if they so wish. It has also been noted that the Gunners are considering a move for highly-rated Sevilla star Lucien Agoume.
football.london says: "It certainly seems as though Partey and Arsenal will part ways at the end of the 2024/25 season. Despite talk over his uncertain future being among the headlines for the last 12 months, Partey has continued to feature and impress despite some injury issues.
"His versatility has been rather valuable to Arteta over the last few weeks in particular with defensive injuries requiring him to be deployed at full-back. However, if Arsenal want to continue their upward trajectory, he will need to depart.
"In terms of replacements Martin Zubimendi has been linked but Agoume is a new name and also a bit of an unknown. However, at 22 he has already made nearly 100 senior appearances having come through the academy at Inter which clearly suggests he is capable of playing at the top level."
Kolo Muani January chance
Paris Saint-Germain star Randal Kolo Muani could be on the move in January after being left out of the squad to face Monaco on Wednesday.
Manchester United have been linked as one potential destination with it claimed by the Times that other Premier League teams are interested. Arsenal have not been directly linked, but as a January loan with an obligation to buy is being suggested as the potential deal, it is something worth considering.
football.london says: "Kolo Muani has struggled since leaving Frankfurt for PSG but he has proven he can score goals and Arteta could certainly help him rediscover his best form.
"The Gunners are unlikely to want an obligatory option in any deal given it would likely prevent a move for any other striker in the summer which they will certainly want if Kolo Muani struggles. With that being said, if a straight loan can be negotiated, it may be worth doing as no-lose situation for Arsenal.
"The France international scored 16 goals during his breakthrough season in Germany and thus in the right system he could thrive."
