Arsenal injury update: Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber latest news and return dates
Arsenal overcame Luton 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night without sustaining any new injury worries.
The win meant the Gunners retook the advantage in a tense three-way title battle, though will be replaced at the summit again if Liverpool beat Sheffield United on Thursday.
Arsenal boast a much healthier squad than their title rivals as the club seek to claim their first Premier League trophy for 20 years.
Only Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber are potential doubts as they travel to mid-table Brighton next.
Here is your latest update of Arsenal injury news and return dates…
Bukayo Saka
Saka was not in Arsenal’s squad as they took all three points against Luton on Wednesday night, having picked up a knock in the dour draw with Manchester City last weekend.
The 22-year-old has scored 13 league goals this season and thankfully for the Gunners his absence will only be a short one. He should return for Arsenal’s trip to Brighton on Saturday.
"Hopefully he'll be able to train again and we can have him for the weekend,” Arteta revealed post-match.
Potential return date: Saturday April 6, vs Brighton
Jurrien Timber
Summer signing Timber has been out of action since August after suffering an ACL injury on his Premier League debut for the Gunners against Nottingham Forest.
The Dutch international is nearing his return to first-team football, but with no other defensive injuries at present Arteta is not rushing him back.
“He’s doing very well, he’s back training,” Arteta revealed on Tuesday. “He’s not far off, but the thing is that last step, he hasn’t played any minutes so does he need a game with the under-21s, does he need two games?
“We are going to have to see, especially because he’s training with us and we need to see how long that will take him. That last part is tricky and sometimes takes a while. Hopefully, he’ll be back as soon as possible.”
Potential return date: April/May 2024
