Arsenal: Mikel Arteta says Gunners are 'prepared' as January transfer window plans are revealed

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are prepared if an opportunity arises in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have been tipped to get some business done this month especially in the absence of talisman Bukayo Saka as they look to maintain their Premier League title challenge.

With the England international expected to be sidelined until March after undergoing hamstring surgery, it means the north London outfit are quite thin in the attacking areas.

Although the January transfer window hasn't been open for too long, many players have already been linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium.

From Dani Olmo and Mohammed Kudus to Randal Kolo Muani and Omar Marmoush, just to name a few, the Arsenal transfer rumour mill is heating up and Arteta has addressed whether the club could dip into the market.

“Let’s see. If there’s an opportunity we will look at it,” he told reporters after the 3-1 win over Brentford on New Year’s Day.

"Let’s see how we get there. Hopefully, the squad is going to be in a much healthier position than it is right now, but who knows?”

Aside from 2023 when Leandro Trossard, Jorginho and Jakub Kiwior were recruited, January windows are usually quiet with regard to incomings for Arsenal and Arteta has warned this particular window can prove difficult for getting deals done.

"We are prepared if we need to do something, we’re capable of doing something, but then that transfer window is very tricky and difficult to control,” he added.

“The opportunities are very limited but we’ll be there."
