Arsenal get new Myles Lewis-Skelly red card referee verdict after VAR controversy vs Wolves
Former Premier League referee Mike Dean reckons that he can understand Michael Oliver's decision to send off Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly in their Premier League win over Wolves.
The talented left-back was, surprisingly, awarded a straight red card after tripping Matt Doherty on the edge of Wolves' penalty box in the first half. The foul appeared to be a cynical trip, but was deemed as 'serious foul play'.
Oliver then dismissed Lewis-Skelly in the 43rd minute with the scores still level. Riccardo Calafiori came on at half-time to cover at left-back, and scored the game's winner in the 74th minute to seal a vital three points for Arsenal.

The red card for Lewis-Skelly is set to be a talking point for the coming days and ex-referee Dean was on hand to provide his thoughts on the decision. He initially disagreed with Oliver's call before changing his mind.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "What he's done, he hasn't kicked him, he's gone to trip him, and he's caught the bottom of his boot. I don't think it's a straight red card in my opinion, I don't think it is."
After reviewing the footage, Dean then changed his opinion. "I've got a still image here and when you see the still imagine you might understand what the referee's done," he added.
"It looks like he's gone to kick him, but he's actually put his studs right down the inside of Doherty's leg, so that's why he's sent him off for serious foul play.
"For me, I can see why Michael's sent him off with the view he's got because it's not a kick, as he's scraping down the inside of his Achilles on to his foot. So I can understand why he's been sent off now I've seen the other image."
