Arsenal can now confirm £50.7m transfer as RB Leipzig forced into Benjamin Sesko decision
Arsenal had no problems in attack during the Premier League clash against Aston Villa amid calls for January reinforcements. Injuries in the frontline have significantly impacted Mikel Arteta, but the Gunners had minimal problems in front of goal on Saturday evening.
Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka have all picked up injuries in recent weeks, which has seen the need for a new signing to help out those still fit. Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz were Arteta's chosen front three, with the trio all contributing to goals.
Instead it was problems at the back that cost Arsenal two points with William Saliba absent through injury and Thomas Partey at fault for Ollie Watkins' goal. Additions further back are therefore also rather important for a squad refresh, with one of those needing to be confirmed imminently.

With that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours as the deadline day for the January window approaches.
Zubimendi transfer green light
Arsenal could do with the arrival of Martin Zubimendi in January, having agreed to the bulk of the details for him to join in the summer. Though he played at right-back, Partey was again caught out defensively after also taking some blame for his role in the lead-up to Tottenham's goal in the North London Derby earlier this week.
And Paul Merson was particularly critical of the 31-year-old midfielder. "The defending for the goals, especially for the Partey goal, is just not good enough," he said on Sky Sports.
"You’re 2-1 up, they’ve got back in the game, then you’ve got to be solid, you’ve got to try everything you can, you’ve got to pick players up, and for me it’s too easy, it’s just too lackadaisical."
football.london says: When news broke about Arsenal's pursuit and subsequent expected signing of Zubimendi in six months time, it certainly was unexpected given the need for an attacker imminently.
However, the clash against Villa proved it is absolutely time for a refresh in the club's engine room with Partey expected to be among those heading the other way. Considering that Arsenal will be acquiring his services for just over £50million, given plans to activate his €60m release clause but pay it in instalments, it is a great deal.
If everything has been agreed, it could be worth preparing an announcement in order to lift the mood and potentially distract those focused on signings being made this month.
Sesko decision made
Prior to Arsenal's Premier League draw against Aston Villa, some supporters may have been intrigued to see how Benjamin Sesko got on in action for RB Leipzig against Bochum. However, he was actually not included in the matchday squad for the thrilling six-goal stalemate away from home.
Amid links to the Gunners, the possibility of him having suffered an injury was seemingly high. However, as it turns out, the Slovenia international was suspended for the Bundesliga clash due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
football.london says: Though RB Leipzig and Sesko himself do not appear keen on a mid-season move, an absence bigger than one game would have certainly seen Arsenal re-think their plans for the final weeks of the January transfer window.
As things stand, just four senior attackers are available to Arteta and that looks set to remain the case for a little bit longer. Links to Viktor Gyokeres and Dusan Vlahovic have cooled and the latest update from Sesko's camp also suggests he will be staying in Germany at least until the summer.
With that being said, nothing can really be ruled out until deadline day especially as Arteta is acutely aware of the need to bolster his ranks for the second half of the season.
