Arsenal moved nine points clear of Manchester City with a glorious and dominant win over their recent rivals. After the draw earlier in the season, this win felt amazing and didn’t the players know it?

The Gunners took the lead inside the first few minutes after a mistake from Manuel Akanji allowed Leandro Trossard to nip in before Kai Havertz set up Martin Odegaard to score. Havertz then missed a massive chance after David Raya had saved well from a Josko Gvardiol header.

Erling Haaland however would have his say on the game, heading in from a Savinho cross from the right. Minutes later, however, Thomas Partey’s deflected strike from outside the box was enough to beat Stefan Ortega.

The headlines though come courtesy of Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly who not only scored a brilliant goal, but followed it up by performing Erling Haaland’s celebration - amazing. Havertz would redeem himself from his earlier miss, taking advantage of a break and finessing a shot round the keeper. Ethan Nwaneri then scored late on to seal a fantastic win in north London.

Here is how football.london rated the performances of the Arsenal players:

David Raya – The Spaniard made an excellent save in the first half from a corner that looked destined to hit the net after Josko Gvardiol’s header. Right before the break, Savinho had a deflected shot going low to the right corner and again the Spaniard met it. 8

Jurrien Timber – Booked in the first half for a cynical tackle after just 25 minutes, left him in a perilous position. But he came through it excellently and saw off the waves of attacks while also having the energy to burst forward too. 7

William Saliba – Strong in what he did, William Saliba would get the crowd going in both halves by outfighting Erling Haaland and bullying Omar Marmoush out of play. However, he was caught out for the Haaland goal, and the Norwegian was simply stronger. Hard to mark his overall excellent display down too harshly. 7

Gabriel Magalhaes – Spotted celebrating in the face of Haaland after the early goal, the narrative between the pair had been running for a long time in the build-up to the game. The short answer, the Brazilian won and he knew it as he again put on an excellent display. 8

Myles Lewis-Skelly – Got the roar from the crowd in the first half as he stole the ball on the left flank and drove forward – sadly Havertz could not make the most of the chance. But what more can you say about the goal and the celebration, brilliant from the youngster and will forever have a place in Arsenal history as a result. 9

Thomas Partey – A presence in midfield of course but it was his goal, again from range, that Arsenal will be most grateful for. Receiving the ball outside the box, a shot deflected off John Stones restored the lead after what was just minutes. 8

Declan Rice – Running, tenacity, energy and power. Declan Rice was excellent throughout the game with his battling, how he progressed play and vital in the build-up to Arsenal’s goal. 8

Martin Odegaard – Much has been made about Martin Odegaard’s contributions not just lately but also in big games. He started this one perfectly finishing the chance laid to him on a plate by Kai Havertz. 8

Gabriel Martinelli – Saw a goal ruled out early in the game for a very blatant offside. Had a chance in the second half, being sent through by Rice, fired across goal that Stefan Ortega was forced into a good save from. 7

Leandro Trossard – Done so well to win the ball which led to the first goal. He worked tirelessly throughout the game and was a complete nuisance for Matheus Nunes to deal with as a result. 8

Kai Havertz – Receiving the ball from the turnover, he was perfect in his pass to Odegaard for the opener. However, he was anything but perfect when the next big chance of the game fell to the German as he dragged a golden chance wide. Thankfully, he was able to redeem himself in the second half by curling in an excellent shot past Ortega to score the Gunners’ fourth. 8
