Arsenal have pre-season numbers boosted as international trio join up before Manchester United friendly
Arsenal have been boosted by Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz joining their pre-season tour to the US.
The trio have been on an extended break after Magalhaes and Martinelli were representing Brazil at the Copa America this summer, while Havertz was playing for Germany at Euro 2024.
The three players have now joined up with Arsenal in Los Angeles and were due to take part in training on Friday, with the hope being they could play some part in this weekend’s friendly against Manchester United.
Their arrivals are boost for Arsenal, who have taken a young squad out to the US this summer.
In total, 12 academy players have made the trip and they were given a chance to impress against Bournemouth in Thursday’s friendly.
Thomas Partey was one of the senior players who did start that game and the midfielder is hoping his injury hell is behind him.
The Ghana international has struggled for fitness since joining Arsenal in 2020 from Atletico Madrid and missed much of last season with a thigh injury.
‘It’s life! Things happen and sometimes they are things you cannot control,” Partey told reporters in the US.
“I have to keep going and keep fighting. Every time I fall I have to get up and fight back. That is the mentality I have. I also think that any time I can help the team, that is what I have to do. I am doing my best to be more consistent and stay fit.”
