Arsenal receive £60m transfer green light after shock Matheus Cunha update as January wish clear
Mikel Arteta will be remaining hopeful that Arsenal can bring in an attacker before the end of the January transfer window. Injury issues has seen the Gunners boss have limited options available in his frontline with the absence of Bukayo Saka a particularly big blow.
New signings arriving at the Emirates Stadium appeared unlikely ahead of the mid-term window, but Saka tearing his hamstring, and Gabriel Jesus suffering a serious knee injury, saw plans change. Over the last two weeks, Arsenal have been closely linked to the likes of Dani Olmo, Benjamin Sesko and Nico Williams.
The latest name doing the rounds is Wolves' Matheus Cunha with a January move now appearing to be a real possibility. Several transfer updates on the Brazil international have emerged in the last 24 hours - with impact elsewhere having the potential to be huge as the Gunners appear to be frontrunners for his signature.

With that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours during the January window.
£60m green light
Nottingham Forest appear to be matching their astounding league position with ambitious moves in the transfer market. Despite submitting a £22million bid to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford, Cunha is now their priority January target, according to the The Daily Mail.
With Wissa therefore likely to stay at the Gtech Community Stadium, the Bees could be more susceptible to selling Bryan Mbeumo. Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal have all been linked to the Cameroon international with Brentford's asking price at £60million, as per Give Me Sport, though a January move is unlikely.
football.london says: While Arteta will certainly want an attacking addition imminently, this set of transfer dominos could set Arsenal up well to sign Mbeumo in the summer.
Cunha actually joining Forest in the next 11 days does appear unlikely, but the financial backing is there and their European ambitions are clearly on show. Forest's focus being away from Wissa may open the door for Arsenal to sign either him or Mbeumo with their interest in the Brentford duo on show.
If Cunha is actually available this month however then that is absolutely where Arsenal's focus should be, but there is an alternative route that the Gunners can take if needed.
Cunha January wish
The Wolves talisman is certainly in the headlines at the moment with several Premier League clubs now said to be interested. According to Wolves journalist Ryan Leister, a January exit for Cunha is a "more likely scenario" than him staying at Molineux and signing a new contract.
football.london says: If this does turn out to be the case, then Arsenal have to be all over it. Not only would Cunha immediately improve the attacking options available to Arteta, but he could add that extra edge that the Gunners have been craving at the top end of the pitch.
In recent weeks, Cunha has been rather selfish when it comes to keeping the ball and shooting but, surrounded by better players, he could unleash those around him while also being free to continue playing his game in the right moments.
At 25, he is now entering the prime of his career and his uncertain situation at Wolves is one that the Gunners can take advantage of.
