Arsenal receive Jhon Duran transfer update as 'green light' claim emerges amid Aston Villa call
Arsenal are reportedly the latest club to make an approach to Aston Villa over Jhon Duran.
The Colombia international has been linked with a move away from Villa Park in recent months with Chelsea known to be long-term admirers. West Ham tried to complete a swoop for Duran by launching a £57million bid last week but were unsuccessful.
As we head into the final few days of the January transfer window, Arsenal are yet to conduct any major business. Work is certainly being conducted behind the scenes though, so much so, that Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal 'made a call' to gather information on Duran's situation.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "Arsenal made a call in recent weeks to understand the situation of Duran because [Benjamin] Sesko, at the moment, no green light from RB Leipzig.
"Alexander Isak the dream target of Arsenal, is super expensive - almost impossible, very complicated. However, no bid, no direct negotiations [were made] with Aston Villa. They want to keep the player at the club so let's see what's going to happen."
The Athletic has named the Villa man as the player to watch before the window closes on February 3. The report adds that if bids of around £80m arrive and it suits all parties, a move is 'certainly possible.'
Villa manager Unai Emery has made his feelings clear over Duran, insisting he wants to keep his player, however.
"Such circumstances, of course, in this moment are not helping us to be focusing 100%, but Jhon Duran is our player and I am happy with him. I want him here with us," he told Sky Sports at the weekend. Then asked if he was desperate to keep Duran at Villa Park, a steely-eyed Emery added: "I want him here."
Duran joined Villa in January 2023 from Chicago Fire in a deal worth £18m after he scored eight goals and set up six more in 28 appearances for the MLS club.
