Arsenal have already been told how to beat Manchester United to the signing of Matheus Cunha. The 25-year-old forward has been heavily linked with several Premier League clubs during the January transfer window following his eye-catching displays for Wolves.

Cunha, who sees his contract at Molineux expire in June 2027, has featured 21 times in the English top flight this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists. Despite his best efforts, the Brazil international has struggled to drag Wolves up the table, with just goal difference stopping them from falling into the relegation zone.

His impressive performances haven't gone under the radar, with Arsenal reportedly interested in wrapping up a deal. In fact, according to the Mirror, the Gunners are joined by Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in the race for Cunha's signature.

With so many Premier League clubs chasing the Brazilian, it could be difficult for Arsenal to place themselves at the front of the queue. However, when the Blues signed Pedro Neto in August 2024, Matt Hobbs revealed exactly why he let the winger leave.

The Wolves sporting director admitted that Chelsea made an offer that both the club and the player could not turn down. Speaking to the official club website, Hobbs said: "It felt like an opportunity for him that he couldn’t turn down and a deal for us we couldn’t turn down.

"Pedro gets to go and compete in European football – Chelsea, with the amount of money they spend, have to be under pressure for titles and Champions League football. So, he’ll get that opportunity, but nobody should think this was easy for Pedro. For me, it was right for everyone, but also really upsetting for everyone."

The Wolves chief added: "For the club, it’s the right deal at the right time. It’s hard when it’s someone everyone has so much affinity for as a person to look at it as a business, but football is a business and it was the right timing and the right deal, so from that perspective, the football club are happy."

So, to sign Cunha, Arsenal need to make Wolves an offer they can't turn down; Sky Sports claim a bid worth £60m would be enough to tempt the West Midlands outfit into selling.

Vitor Pereira, who replaced Gary O'Neil in the dugout last month, was recently quizzed on Cunha's future at Molineux. The 56-year-old said: "He is committed to Wolves. But in your life when you start to listen that other clubs (are interested), he's human and it's normal in football.

"He needs to put his mind on the target, to increase his level because he's come from injury and it's normal he's not at the same level now. To help the team again with his quality, because he has a lot of quality. The team needs him with good energy, not with frustration. He must slow down and put his mind in the right place."
