Arsenal second transfer confirmed as club make decision on future of wonderkid
Charles Sagoe Jr has returned to Arsenal. The 20-year-old left the Gunners and joined League One side Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan in the summer.
He made 18 appearances for the Shrews, failing to score or assist. And after Sagoe Jr was left out of the squad to face Leyton Orient on Saturday, the decision has now been made for him to return to north London - six months before his loan deal was set to expire.
In a statement on the club's website, Shrewsbury said: "Shrewsbury Town can confirm Charles Sagoe Jr has returned to parent club Arsenal. The 20-year-old made 18 appearances for Town after joining the club on a temporary basis from the Gunners back in August.

"Shrewsbury would like to thank Charles for all his hard work over the past five months. We wish him and his family the very best of luck for the future."
Sagoe Jr's exit from Shrewsbury is the second Arsenal transfer that has been confirmed during the January transfer window so far. Wigan Athletic announced on New Year's Day that they had signed defender Josh Robinson on a three-and-a-half year deal from the Gunners.
Robinson, 20, failed to make a senior appearance for Arsenal but did make the bench in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this season. He played three times in the Vertu Trophy, most notably scoring the winner against Orient back in September.
Speaking after moving to Wigan, Robinson said: "I am very excited to start my journey here. It’s a very big club, and I am looking forward to seeing what the season holds. I just want to hit the ground running, and hopefully do well for the football club."
Wigan boss Shaun Maloney said on Robinson: "We have been monitoring Josh for quite some time, and I am thrilled that he is now a player for Wigan Athletic. Moving here was a significant decision for him, but Josh is both excited and motivated about our vision for the club in the coming seasons.
"He is an extremely dedicated defender who excels in one-on-one situations and possesses strengths in attacking areas as well. I look forward to working with Josh to help him and the club achieve our goals."
