Arsenal will soon have ‘one of the best’ players in the world as Gabriel Jesus makes training claim

Gabriel Jesus has heaped praise on Arsenal teammate William Saliba, claiming he'll soon be one of the best players on the planet.

The centre-back has played a key role in the Gunners' impressive defensive record this season with Arsenal conceding a league-best 28 goals in the Premier League. Saliba's performances alongside fellow centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes have ensured Mikel Arteta's side remain in the hunt for a first league title since 2004.

Arsenal will need to win their remaining two fixtures of the campaign and hope for a slip-up from champions Manchester City, who have a game in hand. But even if they fall short this year, Arteta has helped to build a team which could compete for years to come.

And Jesus has pointed out the role of Saliba and Gabriel in defence during their impressive campaign. He acknowledged that both players complement each other perfectly.

“Everyone knows how good he [Saliba] is, but not only him – he and Gabriel match up perfectly, and I think Gabi has helped him a lot," Jesus told Arsenal.com.

“Off the pitch, he [Saliba] is one of the funniest guys here, but not because he’s joking all the time. It’s just the way he is. He’s very special.”

When asked how Saliba compares to the best defenders he has faced, Jesus added: “It’s hard to play against him! I’ve never played against him in a match, only in training, but even then it’s hard because he’s so sharp and hard to beat.

“We are all working hard to improve and if he carries on doing that he can be one of the best, for sure.”
