Mikel Arteta reiterated that everybody must be ready to play ahead of Arsenal 's FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester United.

Raheem Sterling is one of those available again for selection. The winger on loan from Chelsea returned to the matchday squad for the first time since the League Cup quarter-final when the Gunners played their first leg in the next round of that competition versus Newcastle United.

The 30-year-old missed the festive fixtures with a knee injury, which coincided with Bukayo Saka tearing the hamstring in his right leg. In their absence, Ethan Nwaneri stepped up away to Brighton and Hove Albion, but the teenager almost half Sterling's age is now also out with an untimely muscle injury.

One has effectively replaced the other in Arsenal's matchday squad, and the third round tie with United may now present the former England international chance to feature more often when fit. Before spending weeks on the sidelines, Sterling remained an unused substitute in four consecutive matches before receiving a rare start against Crystal Palace.

That was the winger's fifth start of the season, with just two - back in October - coming in the Premier League. Sterling, though, started all three League Cup ties before the semi-finals.

Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have yet failed to take their chances to deputise for Saka, so Arteta could turn to Sterling when Man United visit north London for the second time in five-and-a-half weeks. Sunday is also the first cup tie Neto is eligible to play in, so the goalkeeper on loan from Bournemouth could debut.
