Arsenal’s 1-0 win away at Manchester United inside a leaking Old Trafford means the title race will go down to the final day.

The complexion of that afternoon depends on how Manchester City fare away at Tottenham on Tuesday before their last game at home to West Ham on Sunday. Arsenal, meanwhile, host Everton at the Emirates Stadium.

If Man City win their two remaining games, they know they will be Premier League champions for a record fourth straight season, with Arsenal having to settle for second for another year. However, there are several permutations that could see the Gunners win out.

The first is if City lose to Tottenham in midweek. The Blues have not won in the league at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since 2021, albeit did beat them there in the FA Cup in January.

If City do lose then Arsenal know a win over Everton will see them claim their first crown in 20 years. The same applies if Man City draw with Tottenham, although this situation is slightly more complex.

Both teams would be locked on 86 points with a goal difference separation of three in Arsenal's favour. If Arsenal beat Everton 1-0, then City would need to triumph by five clear goals, something they have done twice this season and three times versus the Hammers in the past decade.

If City can only draw at West Ham, should they indeed draw with Spurs in midweek, then a draw versus Everton would also do it for Mikel Arteta.

Again, if City fail to beat Tottenham and go on to lose versus West Ham, then Arsenal will be crowned champions as long as they don’t lose by three more goals against Everton.

Needless to say, two unlikely defeats from City will see Arsenal lift the title at the Emirates. The bottom line is that the title is, obviously, in City’s hands. But if Tottenham do a number of them, the advantage is back with Arsenal for what could be an historic day in North London on Sunday.
