The January transfer deadline is fast approaching. With hours to go, Arsenal have yet to sign anyone, nor have they let anyone leave.

Manager Mikel Arteta will be heading into the rest of the season with the same squad that he started with. And, given they are second in the Premier League and into the last 16 of the Champions League, that may not be seen as a bad thing.

However, the Gunners boss was keen to bolster his squad in attacking areas, admitting that injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus would force their hand somewhat. Arsenal would only sign the right player, however, and it appears that player has not become available.

Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Benjamin Sesko - again - Matheus Cunha, Mathys Tel, Dusan Vlahovic and Ollie Watkins in the January transfer window, but none have arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

Their 5-1 win over Manchester City may have left some feeling like they do not need another frontman, but it is a position the club are likely to revisit in the summer transfer window. And the Arsenal supporters have already named their preferred signing.

football.london polled our readers in plenty of our stories during the January transfer window after links with Aston Villa Ollie Watkins died away, asking: "Which striker should Arsenal target if they are unable to land Ollie Watkins?"

And there was not much between the top two responses. With 24% of the vote, Sporting CP frontman Viktor Gyokeres is the preferred option, but only just asked of Alexander Isak (23%).

Benjamin Sesko was the next favourite choice with 18% of the vote, with Victor Osimhen getting 15% of the vote.

So the supporters have spoken. Gyokeres is expected to be on the list of players Arsenal look at in the summer and could be available for a reduced fee too.
