Arsenal 'target', Premier League defender - four cut-price stars Liverpool could target this summer
Even though the summer transfer window is still a few months away, Liverpool would be wise to be keeping the eyes peeled for potential opportunities. After choosing not to make any new signings in January, the attention on the potential business at the end of the season is only going to intensify as the weeks and months go on.
Sporting director Richard Hughes will be working with head coach Arne Slot to discuss potential targets for the summer transfer window. Whether those conversations will have taken place yet remains to be seen, but they are almost sure to be on the agenda in the not-too-distant future.
The names that will be discussed will only be known to those in the Anfield hierarchy. Although, it's possible that some rumours may start to emerge over the next few months as summer transfer plans start to come into place.

'Opportunity' was the word used to describe Liverpool's transfer activity last summer. That was the reported motivation behind the deals to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus and Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.
This summer there could be another 'opportunity' that Liverpool could take advantage of - contracts. While the Reds are currently able to talk to players outside England who are in the final six months of their contracts, they could have plans to look slightly further afield.
This summer will also mean players whose contracts expire in 2026 have just one year left to run. That has often, in the past, led to some clubs choosing to do business to avoid losing the player for free a year later, as Juventus did with Chiesa just last summer.
A new striker has been rumoured to be an area of the squad that Liverpool will look to strengthen in the summer. Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic's contract expires at the end of next season, and there is currently no sign that an extension will be agreed.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with signing the Serbia international in recent months, particularly in January. If Liverpool do want to sign a new striker, Vlahovic could be an option worth considering.
Staying in the forward line and the right wing position could be an area of interest for Liverpool this summer. Mohamed Salah is out of contract in the summer and if an extension is not agreed then a replacement would need to be found.
PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko has previously been linked with Liverpool, and even scored against the Reds in the Champions League back in January. The forward is out of contract in 2026 and it remains to be seen if an extension will be agreed in the weeks or months ahead.
The defence has also been an area of the squad that Liverpool have been heavily linked with bringing in reinforcements. Centre-back, in particular, has been rumoured to be a position of interest to the Reds in the transfer market.
Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi was tentatively linked with Liverpool last summer, with Newcastle United also apparently interested. The England international is out of contract in 2026, which could present an opportunity for the Reds if they wish to sign a centre-back with Premier League experience.
Staying in the top flight and in the defence, left-back has been an area of the squad that has been the subject of intense speculation over the last few months. Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri has entered the final 18 months of his contract and has been linked with a big-money move away from Molineux in the past.
Liverpool have been mentioned on the rumour mill when it comes to potentially signing Ait-Nouri in the past, although Wolves apparently have the option to extend the left-back's deal by a year. If that does not get activated, though, this summer could present an opportunity for the Reds to add competition for Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.
