The January transfer window is here and Arsenal are in a strong position in the league following Wednesday night's victory over Brentford.

Mikel Arteta's side are now second in the table, six points behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand. Arsenal can reduce the gap to three points on Saturday, with the Merseyside club not in action until Sunday.

The win at the Gtech Community Stadium came despite the absence of key player Bukayo Saka, who is sidelined having undergone surgery on a hamstring injury. It is for that reason Arsenal may look to strengthen in January with the title race well and truly on.

So, football.london takes a look at the latest transfer rumours involving Arsenal, including updates on Alexander Isak, Omar Marmoush and Bryan Mbeumo.

Alexander Isak price tag revealed

One name that has been continuously linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium is Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. The Sweden international has scored 13 goals and registered four assists across all competitions so far this term.

A recent report from The Telegraph indicates the Magpies value Isak at more than £150m, so Arsenal would essentially need to break the bank in order to bring him in this month. The striker already has more than three years left on his contract which means Newcastle are under no pressure to consider a sale.

The article did note that contract talks have been placed on hold, but Newcastle's desire to keep their star man is clear and an extension will be discussed soon. It has been noted that Arsenal would struggle to produce the kind of sum required to prise Isak away from St James' Park.

Omar Marmoush speaks out on future

Another name that has been linked in recent times is Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush. The Egyptian has also been tipped to join Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, but Arsenal appear most likely to bolster their attacking ranks in the January window.

That being said, Marmoush has spoken out on his future and insists he is not currently considering a move away from his current club. "What I can promise the fans is that I will give my all for Eintracht in every game”, Marmoush told TZ.

“I am not thinking about a transfer. I am living in the here and now and enjoying my time in Frankfurt.”

Bryan Mbeumo transfer stance emerges

Bryan Mbeumo showed his quality on Wednesday night as he opened the scoring for Brentford in their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal. The Gunners have now been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, who is under contract until 2026.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Arsenal have heavily scouted Mbeumo and he has emerged as the top target to fill the void left by Saka's recent injury. However, it won't be an easy deal to get over the line as Brentford are desperate to keep a hold of their star man.

The report claims they have raised their asking price to £50m in a bid to put off rival clubs from making a move. It is feared a possible exit for Mbeumo could derail Brentford's season as they currently sit 12th in the table, but only nine points clear of the relegation places.
