Mikel Arteta will be eager to strengthen his squad before the January transfer window slams shut. Several big names have been linked with moves to Arsenal this month, but they're yet to welcome any new faces to the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking to reporters after Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Aston Villa, the Spaniard claimed he was 'very short' on options in attack, with Raheem Sterling being the only fit senior forward on the bench. The North Londoners blew a two-goal lead against Unai Emery's side on Saturday evening.
"When you look at the performances, I don’t know how many teams are playing at this level on the league, but when you look at the bench, probably you say, I think we are very short," Arteta said. "There are moments, obviously. They (Liverpool) managed to do that.

"They made the subs and the subs made the impact - and they managed to change the game. And, in our side, it was the opposite, even though after conceding the two goals very close to each other, the danger was because I knew how the team was we could go downhill because we were physically drained."

The Slovenia international wanted to resolve his future before Euro 2024 and Arsenal couldn't commit, with Eddie Nketiah still at the club. Despite missing out, football.london understands that the North Londoners have continued to monitor Sesko and remain interested in securing his signature.
It's said that he could leave RB Leipzig at the end of the season, with the German outfit unwilling to sell this month. It's understood that speculation of a loan deal were wide of the mark.
Arsenal 'ready to go crazy' for Thuram
According to Italian outlet TV Play, Arsenal are 'ready to go crazy' for Marcus Thuram this month, with Arteta eager to bolster his frontline. The report states that the Gunners have sounded out Juventus on a potential deal for Dusan Vlahovic, but the Inter Milan striker remains their 'dream' option.
It's said that the Italian champions have given Thuram a €70m (£59.2m) price tag to reflect his key role in Simone Inzaghi's side. The 27-year-old has featured 20 times in the Serie A this season, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.
Arsenal offer for new target rejected
According to Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte, Botafogo have rejected an offer from Arsenal to sign Igor Jesus on loan. The report states that the Gunners wanted to include an option to buy the 23-year-old striker in the summer worth €20m (£16.9m).
It's said that Botafogo have no interest in letting Jesus leave on loan. However, RTI Esporte claim that the Brazilian club's owner, John Textor, who also has a stake in Crystal Palace, would be open to negotiating a fee for the frontman's exit on a permanent basis.
Chelsea eye former Arsenal target
According to The Times, Chelsea are considering a move for the Dusan Vlahovic after holding talks with Juventus about the transfer of Renato Veiga. Arsenal tried to sign the 24-year-old striker from Fiorentina in January 2022, but the Old Lady hijacked the deal with a £66.4m (€80m) bid.
Arsenal given Wolves star ultimatum
Arsenal must decide whether they'd rather sign Matheus Cunha this month or hold out until the summer and go for Sesko. According to the Mirror, the Gunners have been keeping tabs on the Wolves star, who could still leave Molineux this month despite having recently been 'close to signing a new contract'.
The report states that Cunha's agent is looking to move the goalposts on a renewal at Wolves while keeping an eye on any opportunities in the transfer market. Sky Sports, as quoted by the Mirror, claim that Sesko could be free to leave RB Leipzig in the summer for £67m.
Meanwhile, Wolves have given Cunha a whopping £80m price tag to fend off potential suitors. The Mirror add that Alexander Isak could become available at the end of the season if Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League.
