Arsenal 2-1 AC Milan LIVE! Gunners win Dubai Super Cup - friendly result, match stream, latest updates today
The Gunners have this afternoon won the Dubai Super Cup. Goals from Martin Odegaard and Reiss Nelson settled the game in normal time before Arsenal went on to claim an extra point in a penalty shootout after the full-time whistle.
Captain Odegaard opened the scoring with a fine free kick, which went over the wall from 22 yards and past the rooted Ciprian Tatarusanu in the Milan goal. Milan, who had started slowly, woke up after going behind and enjoyed plenty of possession, though few clear-cut chances, but Nelson’s deflected effort doubles the Gunners’ lead just before the break.
Again Milan showed more than their opponents in the second half and Fikayo Tomori set up a nervy finale after heading home 12 minutes before time, but the Gunners held out for the win. Read the game back below with our dedicated match blog of the match in Dubai.

Score prediction: Gunners win

Here’s our report.

As my colleague Simon Collings just said, this will surely be the biggest trophy anyone can win in the Middle East this month so Arsenal must be feeling on top of the world.
16:12 , Alex Young
Now Krunic has to score to force sudden death... but drags it wide!
Arsenal win (we knew that already) and get an extra point!
16:11 , Alex Young
Smith now to win it for Arsenal... BUT IT’S SAVED!
Poor from the youngster.
16:10 , Alex Young
Lazetic with the best penalty of the lot with a superb panenka!
16:09 , Alex Young
Elneny next, and it’s a corker into the top corner!
16:09 , Alex Young
Tonali scores for Milan.
16:07 , Alex Young
Marquinhos now to give Arsenal a two-penalty lead... and he slots it into the bottom corner.
16:07 , Alex Young
Diaz is Milan’s second... and Hein saves! Very poor pen.
16:06 , Alex Young
Gabriel next... who also scores.
16:05 , Alex Young
Bennacur lashes home his and we’re all square.
16:04 , Alex Young
Cedric... scores!
16:03 , Alex Young
Here come the pens. Cedric to take first.
15:59 , Alex Young
98min: That’s it! We’re heading for a penalty shootout (for some reason!)
15:57 , Alex Young
91min: Seven minutes added on. World Cup match officials at this game, then.
15:52 , Alex Young
90min: Odegaard makes way for Matt Smith.
15:52 , Alex Young
88min: Tomori now getting booed with every touch.
15:48 , Alex Young
85min: Marquinhos literally hauls Bennacur to the ground, which Tomori reacts to by giving the Arsenal man a big old shove.
15:46 , Alex Young
82min: Cozier-Duberry, Sousa and Butler-Oyedeji are on for the Gunners.
GOAL!
15:41 , Alex Young
78min: Here we go! Tomori heads home Tonali’s free kick from wide on the left.
The comeback is on! Just over 12 minutes to play...
15:38 , Alex Young
75min: Milan came out of the last drinks break with much more intent. They need more of the same to get anything out of this game.
15:35 , Alex Young
73min: Time for another drinks break.
15:34 , Alex Young
71min: Nketiah goes into the book for an elbow on Thiaw. Looked accidental, but he can’t have too many complaints (he is having too many complaints).
15:30 , Alex Young
65min: The pace of the game has slowed somewhat. Arsenal happy for Milan to pass it around without much pressure.
15:24 , Alex Young
60min: Elneny tries his luck from distance, but his shot cannons off Odegaard’s head and over the bar.
15:18 , Alex Young
55min: Change for Milan as Origi makes way for Lazetic.
15:14 , Alex Young
51min: Milan are still searching for that ball over the top towards Origi, but again Arsenal can deal with it. This time Holding mops up and the ex-Liverpool striker takes a tumble.
15:09 , Alex Young
47min: White and Partey have made way for Cedric and Elneny.
15:08 , Alex Young
46min: Back underway.
15:06 , Alex Young
The teams are back out.
14:59 , Alex Young
A free kick from Odegaard and Nelson via a huge deflection is the difference here. It’s largely been very straightforward for the Gunners.
Half-time!
14:53 , Alex Young
49min: Not sure where four minutes came from, but there you go. That’s your lot for the first half.
14:51 , Alex Young
45min: Four minutes added on.
GOAL!
14:46 , Alex Young
42min: Well, Milan have been the better side for the last 10 minutes or so, but it’s Arsenal who have extended their lead.
Vieira dances through a slack Milan defence before finding Nelson in space, whose shot takes a big deflection and spins over the keeper and in.
14:42 , Alex Young
40min: Milan win a free kick around 30 yards out, it’s floated in but Gabriel has no trouble heading clear.
14:40 , Alex Young
38min: And again. This time it’s Rebic over the top for Origi, which the striker tries to bring down, rather impressively, under pressure from two, but the ball bounces just out of reach for Hein to gather.
14:39 , Alex Young
35min: Milan not quite clicking yet, though are seeing far more of the ball. Tonali looks up and spots Origi running down the flank, but his pass is a good 15 yards overhit.
14:33 , Alex Young
31min: Milan come our refreshed and reenergised, and immediately launch an attack which sees Origi fly through the centre, into the area and down onto the deck under pressure from White, but the referee waves play on.
14:30 , Alex Young
29min: Time for a water break in Dubai. It’s 22C over there.
14:27 , Alex Young
25min: Nketiah looks to have won another free kick, again outside the area, but the referee waves away the protests.
14:27 , Alex Young
22min: A free kick won really well by Nketiah for that opener, by the way. Really battled hard.
GOAL!
14:22 , Alex Young
21min: A stunner from Odegaard gives Arsenal the lead!
The captain bends a fine finish beyond the wall and beyond the keeper.
14:16 , Alex Young
15min: Another corner for Milan, this time Tonali sends the ball into the area, it’s headed clear but only to Kalulu who is able to test Hein in goal.
14:15 , Alex Young
12min: Milan finally get their foot on the ball and win a corner. Tonali plays it short and works the ball to the edge of the area, finding Rebic for a smart turn and shot off target.
14:10 , Alex Young
8min: Milan are chasing shadows. Partey and Lokonga keeping things ticking along nicely in the middle.
14:07 , Alex Young
5min: Two more corners for Arsenal, who have flown out the traps here. This one is whipped in by Vieira which forces Tatarusanu into a flying save.
14:05 , Alex Young
3min: Early chance for Arsenal as they win a corner, but Milan clear first time.
Arsenal on top in the early stages.
Kick-off!
14:01 , Alex Young
1min: Here we go!
13:48 , Alex Young
Kick off in just under 15 minutes. AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli, here, overseeing his players during their final warm-ups.
Tomori will be hoping for a good showing, having missed out on England’s World Cup squad and, frankly, been quite dreadful against Chelsea in the Champions League.
13:35 , Alex Young
Not long now.
This is Milan’s first of these mid-season friendlies, so it will be interesting to see how they get on. They face Liverpool, also in the Dubai Super Cup, on Friday.

So, another fairly strong team from the Gunners, who do include White and Partey from the off.
Gabriel, Vieira and Nketiah will be looking to again get on the scoresheet. The likes of Cedric, Elneny and Marquinhos are on the bench.

Confirmed teams are imminent.
Familiar face
12:45 , Alex Young
The Arsenal squad were joined by a familiar face in Dubai yesterday as former defender Bacary Sagna showed his face.
Sagna spent seven years with the Gunners, winning the FA Cup in his final year, playing alongside Mikel Arteta for much of it.
12:28 , Alex Young
Some early teams news out of Dubai suggests both Ben White and Thomas Partey will be involved in the game.
Granit Xhaka and Ben Turner are with the squad but will not feature.
Last time out
12:15 , Alex Young
Arsenal showed no signs of rustiness as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Lyon in the Dubai Super Cup last week.
Almost a month after the Gunners beat Wolves in their final Premier League match before club football went on a break for the World Cup, Mikel Arteta’s side looked as sharp as ever in their first of two matches in Dubai.
Goals from Gabriel, Eddie Nketiah and Fabio Vieira put the Gunners in complete control heading into the break, and that proved to be more than enough for victory. A penalty shootout took place after the match with an extra point on offer, and Karl Hein, with his four saves, was the only one to come out with real credit as the Gunners won 2-1 following a really poor set of spot-kicks.
Arsenal face AC Milan next week, before returning to London to play Juventus in a final friendly before the resumption of the Premier League.
Score prediction
12:06 , Alex Young
Arsenal have the advantage of this being their second match, so they can be expected to be the sharper of the two sides.
The Gunners looked impressive against Lyon and if it’s another strong lineup named, then a similar result looks likely.
A 3-1 win for Arsenal.
World Cup stars back for Arsenal
11:56 , Alex Young
Arsenal have been boosted by the return of a number of World Cup stars for today’s game.
Granit Xhaka has been joined by the likes of Ben White, Thomas Partey and Matt Turner with the squad ahead of the Gunners' second mid-season friendly.
It remains to be seen if any of those who were in Qatar will feature, while the likes of England duo Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale and Brazil's Gabriel Martinelli will be given more time off before linking back up with the club.
Injured pair Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe are out for the foreseeable, though the latter hopes to be back up to speed after injury come the turn of the year.
Oleksandr Zinchenko was ruled out of the win over Lyon with muscle tightness and will be assessed ahead of kick-off.
