Arsenal are celebrating heading through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 14 years. David Raya was the hero on Tuesday evening as the Premier League leaders edged out Porto in a dramatic penalty shootout after a 1-0 win on the night for Arsenal that levelled the last-16 tie 1-1 on aggregate.

Raya tipped Wendell’s spot-kick onto the post and also denied Porto’s first-leg match-winner Galeno on a memorable night at the Emirates Stadium, with Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice all netting from 12 yards as Arsenal emerged victorious in the shootout, 4-2. They had earlier levelled proceedings shortly before half-time in normal time when Leandro Trossard fired home following a gorgeous assist from Odegaard, who also saw a goal ruled out for a foul by Havertz on Pepe.

Arsenal now take their place proudly in Friday’s quarter-final draw, having ended a run of seven last-16 exits in a row in the Champions League on their first appearance in the competition since 2016/17. "Obviously it's a great feeling especially for me personally, my first time in the Champions League and the first time in a long time club has got to the quarter-finals.

"We've been working a lot on penalties this year because on a night like this you need to be good and the hard work has paid off. It's a great night.

"I should have saved three, but I'm over the moon to save two and get through to the quarter-finals.
