Artem Dovbyk: Girona chief delivers update on Chelsea transfer rumours

Girona co-owner Pere Guardiola has quashed speculation that his side will cash in on Chelsea target Artem Dovbyk this month.

The Ukrainian striker has hit 12 goals this season to catapult the Catalans into the LaLiga title race alongside Real Madrid, helped by Wednesday night's last-ditch 4-3 win over Atletico Madrid.

Naturally, Girona's success has led to rumours of Europe's top clubs poaching their talented with Barcelona tipped to bid for midfielder Aleix Garcia.

But Guardiola, whose brother Pep coaches the Manchester City side at the helm of the City Football Group which includes Girona, has denied that there are any bids for his players.

"There are no offers," he told Revelo. "Rumours, all of them. We don't have offers for anyone.

"Not from Barcelona for Aleix, not from Chelsea for Dovbyk, for anyone.

"And we have no intention of selling to anyone either. The thing is that journalists really like the transfer window.

"The truth is that we have a good squad. Obviously it's normal that things will happen at the end [of the window], but people have noticed us because we are doing things well."

Chelsea have made signing a striker their top priority in the January transfer window but will need to sell players before they can buy following a number of expensive acquisitions.

Guardiola added: "What we want is for nothing to happen or minimal to happen in January."
