We asked Elon Musk's AI who he would sign as Liverpool owner - 3 of them make no sense
Out of all the things you might have been expecting for Liverpool in 2025, we bet you didn’t have Elon Musk taking over the club to be on your list.
Well, chances are it won’t happen, but then you never can predict what the Tesla billionaire is going to do next. His father Errol has sensationally claimed his son has expressed a desire in taking Liverpool off FSG’s hands, although he doesn’t want to disclose too much information for fear that the current owners will raise the asking price.
Musk, the world’s richest man with a net worth of around $425bn, would certainly give the Reds plenty of financial power, although let’s face it, the cons far outweigh the pros with him as owner. In any case, he has previously indicated that he’s a Manchester United fan, which is just one of a multitude of reasons why he wouldn’t go down well with supporters at Anfield.

The prospect of having that much financial clout though does leave you wondering just what Musk would do as Liverpool owner. So, with that in mind, Liverpool.com asked his own AI service what signings he would make if he did take over.
We put the question ‘Who could Liverpool sign if Elon Musk takes over?’ to Grok, the AI service on X, and it threw up some, shall we say, interesting suggestions.
First things first, it suggested that the club’s transfer strategy could “potentially see significant changes given his vast financial resources and interest in expanding his influence”. It then offered up the following six suggestions, along with these explanations:
Jude Bellingham: As a young, highly-rated midfielder from Real Madrid and England, he has been linked with Liverpool before. However, his transfer would be very challenging due to his current club's reluctance to let him go.
Benjamin Sesko: This RB Leipzig striker is considered a fit for "the next generation of top-tier talent," potentially aligning with a strategy of investing in young players with high potential.
Christian Pulisic or Gio Reyna: As American players, they could help establish Liverpool's brand in North America, leveraging Musk's American background and business interests.
High-profile superstars like Robert Lewandowski or Cristiano Ronaldo: While these transfers seem unlikely due to age or current club commitments, they represent the kind of blockbuster signings that could be contemplated with Musk's financial backing.
So, let’s start off on the positives. Sesko and Pulisic aren’t crazy suggestions - they have, after all, been linked with Liverpool over recent months, and given the doubts over Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah’s future still up in the air, they are signings that make some sense.
Reyna is more of a questionable option. He hasn’t really set the Bundesliga alight with Borussia Dortmund, and he didn’t really impress in the Premier League while on loan with Nottingham Forest last season. He is at least a more realistic signing than the other three suggestions.
Had Bellingham been suggested a couple of years ago, it might have been reason to get excited. Now, it’s nothing more than a pipe dream, and the England international now looks more likely to play a part in Liverpool losing one of its current stars, never mind swapping the Bernabeu for Anfield.
As for Lewandowski and Ronaldo, suggesting they’re “unlikely” would be putting it lightly. There is simply no way Liverpool would go in for either player, with the former now 36 while the latter will turn 40 next month - it doesn’t exactly suggest a club looking to the future.
