GOALS from Lyle Taylor and John-Kymani Gordon secured Colchester United a 2-0 triumph over Gillingham, on Boxing Day.

Danny Cowley's side extended their unbeaten run to ten matches with the win, which moved them up to 15th in the League Two table.

Here are the views of Colchester fans, after a crowd of nearly 6,000 watched them secure a festive win at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Great performance, very professional but sone really beautiful football played. My only worry is we really started to look tired after an hour so could do with getting some of the injured players beck to full fitness.

Starting to come together. Looked good at both ends of the pitch today and should have scored more. Payne was absolutely immense and Taylor is a class act. McDonnell was everywhere as he is every week!

An assured performance. Been a long time since we saw a team playing with real confidence. Donnelly is so consistent at the back, Flanagan did well also. More quality in the final third & we will be a solid top half team.

A great game to watch - and a terrific Boxing Day atmosphere thanks to the @BWA1937. Could have easily had a couple more goals. Three points are a perfect Christmas present for the U’s to capitalise on the recent clean sheets. Up the U’s!

We outplayed them first half, we should of at least had 3 or 4 goals. Second half we slowed down a bit but we looked the better team, we deserved the 3 points, Payne was definitely man of the match, onto Sunday

Finally we added the attacking threat in the the final third to our game. We controlled the game and looked very comfortable throughout. Could easily have been 4/5-0 on another day. 7 clean sheets and counting. Bring on Doncaster.
