Aston Villa 'agree €8m transfer fee' as defender prepares to jet in
Aston Villa have reportedly agreed a fee with Turkish outfit Kasimpasa for central defender Yasin Ozcan in this January transfer window. Ozcan is only 18 but has already accumulated a startling amount of first-team experience for someone so young; the defender has 73 appearances for Kasimpasa in the Super Lig after making his debut at just 16 in the spring of 2022.
Ozcan, who scored his side's winner against Besiktas on the final day of last season, has played 17 times this term for Kasimpasa, who sit comfortably in mid-table in the Super Lig at the halfway stage of their campaign.
The teenager has attracted the interest of Liverpool in the last couple of years, for his mature performances which have belied his age; Ozcan has a contract with Kasimpasa until the summer of 2029, however, and therefore a certain level of fee would need to be agreed.

Turkish outlet Ajansspor, as outlined by Sport Witness, claim that Ozcan is all set for a switch to Villa this month and will travel to Birmingham next month to complete all of the formalities which are involved in a transfer, which is said to be worth up to €8m.
Villa used last January to make signings very much with a thought for the future; Kosta Nedeljkovic, Lino Sousa and Joe Gauci all signed with the long-term in mind, as well as the addition of Morgan Rogers who has subsequently proven his worth in the first-team in the present. In that sense, the signing of another promising young footballer this month, who isn't necessarily ready for the here and now, wouldn't be a major surprise.
