Aston Villa agree next transfer after Marcus Rashford as medicals due
Aston Villa are set to sign Marco Asensio on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for the remainder of the season.
Unai Emery had a long-standing interest in the 29-year-old and is now close to securing the playmaker’s services after talks with the French giants. Asensio signalled his interest in joining Villa in January after struggling for game time under Luis Enrique this campaign.
The Spain international has started eight games in Ligue 1 and only two in the Champions League. He has managed to record six goal contributions in the 12 appearances he has made in the league, which followed nine involvements in 19 games last term.

Asensio joined PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 following the expiration of his contract at Real Madrid and will enter the final 12 months of his deal at the Parc des Princes in the summer. He was of interest to Villa at the time, but he opted for a move to the French capital.
Meanwhile, Villa are also set to bring Marcus Rashford in on loan from Manchester United. It is expected that a buy option will be included in the deal, which could be confirmed tomorrow, and both Rashford and Asensio will have their medicals shortly.
Villa have so far signed two players in the winter window, with Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia joining for a combined £26m. Jaden Philogene, Diego Carlos and Jhon Duran have departed, with Villa taking in nearly £100m in sales.
