Aston Villa could lose Marco Asensio to Premier League rivals through no fault of their own
PSG are reportedly willing to use Aston Villa Marco Asensio as a make weight to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak in the summer transfer window.
Asensio arrived at Villa Park during the January transfer window as Unai Emery was backed by the board to strengthen ahead of the run-in.
The Spaniard had endured a difficult time in Paris but has hit the ground running since making the switch to the West Midlands.
In six appearances, Asensio has already managed four goals and has forged a promising partnership with Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford.
The 29-year-old has expressed his delight at joining Villa but could be prevented from making the move permanent in the summer by his parent club.

According to RMC Sport, PSG are intent on signing Isak to strengthen their chances of competing in the Champions League next season.
Newcastle have shown little intention of humouring offers for the Swede, considering he has scored 22 goals in 31 appearances in the North East.
Reports have suggested that Newcastle would be looking for offers north of £100m to even consider coming to the table.
Despite PSG being one of the richest clubs in the world, that figure could be too steep for them to pay on just one player and as such they are looking to offer several of their unwanted players to twist the Magpies' arm.
Along with Asensio, it is believed that PSG would be interested in offering Randal Kolo Muani, who is currently on loan at Juventus, and Goncalo Ramos to bring Isak to the French capital.
Should this offer transpire, it would leave Villa with very little room for manoeuvre in the summer.
Villa do not have an option to buy Asensio outright in the summer and, as such, the winger is almost definitely going to be returning to PSG at the end of the season.
Leaving for Newcastle could be against Asensio's wishes though having spoken so positively about the club ahead of the Champions League clash with Club Brugge tonight.
"Attention is really good, I'm really happy with my teammates, with the staff, they give me a lot of confidence so I try to do my best on the pitch," he told the club's official website.
"And it's going well, so I want to score more, give more to this team, to this club and that's my objective.
"We have to keep pushing, we are in the right way so the next step is the Champions League and now the focus is there."
