Aston Villa could sanction unforeseen transfer decision with future uncertainty
Aston Villa could explore the possibility of bringing winger Samuel Iling-Junior back to the football club this month from his loan spell at Champions League outfit Bologna. There've been rumblings for some time, in the lead up to the January transfer window, that the loan move could be prematurely terminated and that remains a live possibility.
Iling-Junior was loaned out to Bologna in the summer, shortly after the commencing of the Premier League season, after he failed to make the match-day squads in either of the opening day win at West Ham or the home defeat to Arsenal a week later. Iling-Junior, a Chelsea academy product and England under 21 international, had joined with Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus.
It was a swift return to Italy, though, when Bologna emerged as suitors and, with their Champions League campaign in mind, they moved to beef up their squad with the loan addition of Iling-Junior, who came off the bench to score a last minute equaliser against Como on his debut.

We're now into January, though, and Iling-Junior has made just six Serie A appearances for Bologna, and all of them have been as a substitute. Ironically, in the Champions League, he has featured in all six of their group games and has started two of them, while appearing against Villa and Liverpool, at Anfield, from the bench too.
To that end, Villa could end the arrangement, as reported by the Athletic.
There would be an uncertainty, though, as to what becomes of Iling-Junior should he be recalled and the agreement severed with Bologna; he hasn't played for Villa this term so the Lions would be in a position to accommodate a second loan spell elsewhere in this coming half of the season.
