Aston Villa could seal transfer for in-demand prodigy after £8m bid is rejected
Aston Villa have been linked with a late January transfer window move for Sunderland prospect Tommy Watson. It's expected to be a busy end to the month for Villa, before the deadline passes on Monday evening, with plenty of irons in the fire and deals in need of tying up with Unai Emery expecting reinforcements.
Villa could land the signings of Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, while Joao Felix continues to be linked, too, but they have used the January window in recent years to make signings with the long-term future in mind - the likes of Jhon Duran, Morgan Rogers and Kosta Nedeljkovic have all joined Villa in the winter.
They've now been credited with an interest in teenager Watson, who is currently recovering from both ankle and knee injuries suffered in the meeting with Bristol City in December. He is expected to return to action in the coming weeks, but it remains to be seen if he'll still be at the Stadium of Light.

Brighton and Hove Albion have already had a bid of £8m rejected for 18-year-old Watson, who has made 11 appearances this season for the promotion chasing Black Cats. In that time, he has scored two goals, which both came in the same game, against Stoke City, just prior to his injury. The winger has 18 months remaining on his existing contract on Wearside.
Villa, now, have been linked with a late move for Watson, along with Premier League counterparts Crystal Palace, reports the Guardian, with Sunderland anticipating more offers from the top flight before the window closes at 11pm.
