Aston Villa defender Yeimar Mosquera is in line to return to the club this month, according to the player's agent. Mosquera, who is currently away representing Colombia under 20s at the South American U20 Championships, has spent the first half of this season at Real Union, the Spanish club with strong links to Unai Emery.

Mosquera was joined by fellow Villa youngsters James Wright and Finley Munroe this season, while Josh Feeney and Tommi O'Reilly spent time there last campaign. To date, he has seven appearances for Union, but there are now claims that Mosquera could be recalled by Villa.

The centre half's immediate future could be with the Villa first-team, which is currently suffering from a loss of defenders to injury - in Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres - as well as seeking to cope with the sale of Diego Carlos while they aim for reinforcements before the January transfer window deadline.

Mosquera's agent Socrates Valencia has claimed to local press that his client could end up back at Villa: “That is what is about to happen. We are focused on him continuing his good work, which he is doing at the Sudamericano. What is expected is that he can continue to grow, and that Aston Villa can define Yeimar’s future in the coming days.

“I have the good fortune to know him when he was 12 years old, he arrived at our school in the city of Pereira. Full of talent and capabilities and his mentality, since he arrived, we knew he was a boy who competed to win.”

Mosquera has three and a half years remaining on his contract and was one of a host of players who were loaned out in the summer. Like Louie Barry, Lewis Dobbin and others lower down the EFL, though, there could be movement only midway through the agreed season-long loan for Mosquera.
