How the Aston Villa dressing room reacted to beating Leicester City 2-1
Aston Villa started 2025 with a win over Leicester City on Saturday, their fourth home victory in five matches.
After a drab first half, Villa took the lead through Ross Barkley just before the hour mark. The midfielder drilled the ball past Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk from the edge of the box after Jacob Ramsey's cross was initially cleared by Jannik Vestergaard.
Stephy Mavididi levelled the match shortly after, but Leon Bailey popped up with his first goal of the season in the 76th minute to restore Villa's lead. Ian Maatsen came off the bench and immediately won the ball back in the final third before assisting Bailey for the winner.
